Types of Gas used in Air-Conditioners and their Differences
There are two commonly used Refrigerant Gasses in Air-Conditioners, the R-410a and the R-22 when it comes to Air-Conditioning. You should know which one of these two is going to work for your unit. There are Differences in how they Work and are Used, and we’re going to try to Discuss this below.
This gas is commonly referred to as Freon. Not many air-conditioning units use this gas today, and you can mostly find it in older air-conditioning models. The reason for the shift is that it is classified as a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC), a type of gas that damages the ozone layer. Units that still require this refrigerant will require a technician to perform what is called a dry charge. The R22 gas operates at low pressures, making it susceptible to cracking. This refrigerant needs mineral oil for lubrication.
R-410a or Puron is a Relatively New Gas used by Air-Conditioning units around the world. Most of the New Residential Air-Conditioning units use this Gas to Cool the Air. It is an Environmentally Friendly Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) with many Nations Adopting it as a New Standard Refrigerant Gas. The R-410a Gas is the most Efficient and Reliable Cooling Gas. Your Air-Conditioner is less likely to Warm up. It also Operates under High Pressure, Reducing the Chance of Cracking inside parts of your Air Conditioner. Synthetic oil is a Lubricant used for R-410a gas which Reduces Wear and Tear from Operation.
How to top up with Aircon Gas?

Take the Air-Conditioning unit from where it is Installed and find the place where you can Set It Up.
